Fractions

In this program student are going to learn about fractions.Students develop understanding of fraction equivalence and operations with fractions. They recognize that two different fractions can be equal (e.g., 15/9 = 5/3), and they develop methods for generating and recognizing equivalent fractions. Students extend previous understandings about how fractions are built from unit fractions, composing fractions from unit fractions, decomposing fractions into unit fractions, and using the meaning of fractions and the meaning of multiplication to multiply a fraction by a whole number with the help of various activities so that they can visualize and remember the concept.

In this program student will extend there knowledge of fraction with the help of various parts

1) Extend understanding of fraction equivalence and ordering

2) Build fractions from unit fractions by applying and extending previous understandings of operations on whole numbers.

3) Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions.

4) Converting a fraction to the lowest terms.

5) Understanding of a mixed and improper fractions.

6) Inter conversion between mixed and improper fraction.

7) Addition and subtraction of like and unlike fractions.  

8) Basic multiplication in fractions.

  All the steps above mentioned are practiced with various assignments and homework.
